5 ct/kWh electricity, heat on top – use your own wood waste!
You can generate your own energy at low cost from your sawmill wood waste.
Our wood gasification plants offer you the opportunity to generate electricity from your waste materials at ~5ct/kWh. On top of that, you also have access to the thermal energy generated in parallel with the electricity, which you can use, for example, for your wood drying chambers or to heat your business facilities.
Once you have made the investment, our wood gas technology will save you considerable energy costs year after year and also make you independent of fossil fuels.

Advantages of using a Spanner Re² wood gasifier
for your sawmill operation
Take full control of your energy costs
Use your own wood waste. This will not only reduce your energy costs, but also protect you against price spikes and reliance on imported energy sources.

Eligible for subsidies
Take advantage of government subsidies and benefit twice: from low-cost electricity and subsidies in your state – we will be happy to advise you.
Scalable power plants
Our wood gas power plant technology is modular by design. This means that you will find a plant that is perfectly tailored to your energy requirements, whether they are 50 kWel or several megawatts. You can also expand your energy system at a later date if your requirements increase.
Our wood gasification systems operate in line with demand, and the output can be flexibly adjusted to your requirements within a range of 0–100%.
Example: Wood gas power plant 650 kWel,
base area 14x10 m
Also available as a container solution (EnergyBlock)
Our EnergyBlock is a quickly installable container solution in which the system technology is already installed in a 40-foot container. Multi-story installation is also possible—ideal for situations where space is limited.

Triple EnergyBlock 150 kWel

Example: Three-story container solution
Re² EnergyBlock ~ 650 kWel
Complete waste utilisation thanks to Spanner Re² HeatBoost-technology
Our innovative HeatBoost-technology significantly increases energy efficiency and ensures complete conversion of the coal-like residual fraction.
- Pure mineral ash instead of coal residues
- No storage or disposal of coal
- Maximum fuel utilisation
- Additional CO₂ savings

Full service supplier
We offer complete wood gas solutions with fuel dryers for maximum efficiency
We supply wood gasifiers that are perfectly suited to your energy requirements, as well as powerful fuel dryers that allow you to fully automate the drying of wood chips to the desired moisture content, eliminating any 'wet spots'. The dryers operate at low dust levels (an additional filter is available), have a compact design, and require minimal maintenance.

Frequently asked questions - Wood gasifiers in sawmills
What wood quality is required?
Our wood gasification plants can use wood chips, shredded wood chips, briquettes, or pellets. These can come from forest residues, sawmill by-products, processed roadside greenery, chipboard or MDF residues, waste wood, biogenic residues such as nut shells, kernels, or even plastic waste. You can find more information on our fuel page.
How does a Spanner Re² wood gasifier work?
Our biomass power plant consists of a wood gasifier unit and a combined heat and power plant (CHP). The wood gasifier produces clean gas from wood residues. This gas is converted into electricity in the combined heat and power plant. When a CHP plant is connected to convert the gas into electricity, this is referred to as combined heat and power (CHP). This process generates electricity and heat. Alternatively, the gas produced in the wood gasifier can also be used directly, e.g., in industrial thermal processes (known as direct gas utilization). This allows natural gas to be replaced in a sustainable manner.
Can wood gasification systems from Spanner Re² be used for off-grid operation?
Yes, off-grid operation is possible. Load management and integration with battery storage systems or other energy generators, such as photovoltaics, are also possible.
