Rising diesel prices are putting increasing pressure on businesses that depend on reliable power generation. To help operators reduce fuel costs without sacrificing operational security, Spanner Re² offers a 640 kWe hybrid power solution that combines proven diesel technology with efficient wood gasification.
The Best of Both Worlds
The system combines four wood gasifiers with a Cummins KTA50-G3 generator set. During operation, wood gas gradually replaces most of the diesel fuel while maintaining the flexibility and reliability of a conventional diesel generator.
At 6.000 operating hours per year, the system can replace approximately 773.000 litres of diesel annually, with around 88% of the energy supplied by wood gas and only 12% pilot diesel required during baseload operation.
Strong Economics from Day One
Depending on diesel prices, operators can achieve annual savings ranging from €626.000 to more than €1.3 million after operating costs. Even when financed, the system can generate positive cashflow from day one, turning fuel expenses into a long-term energy investment.
In addition to the economic benefits, the hybrid solution can reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 2.050 to 3.450 tonnes per year while creating local value through the use of regional biomass resources.
A Practical Path to Energy Independence
The hybrid concept is simple: keep the reliability of a diesel generator while significantly reducing fuel consumption through wood gasification. If required, the system can seamlessly increase the diesel share or operate on diesel alone, ensuring maximum operational flexibility.
For companies looking to lower energy costs, reduce emissions and increase energy independence, hybrid wood gas power generation offers a practical and immediately actionable solution.
