With the receipt of an order for a wood gasification project with a total electrical output of 2 MW in Asia, Spanner Re² GmbH reaches a significant technological and economic milestone. The project demonstrates the capabilities of modern wood gasification technology in industrial-scale applications.
The plant will incorporate Spanner Re²’s complete system technology - from fuel drying and fuel preparation through wood gasification to power generation using six HKA 300 Pro units. With a nominal electrical output of 325 kW each, these units form the basis for the plant’s total output of approximately two megawatts.
The HKA 300 Pro also enables power generation to be adjusted according to actual energy demand and grid requirements. This allows renewable energy to be supplied in a more flexible and demand-oriented way.
Challenging Fuels as a Valuable Resource
The selected fuel presents a particular challenge: the plant will operate using A1 and A2 waste wood. To ensure safe and reliable continuous operation despite fluctuating fuel qualities and the presence of possible contaminants, the fuel preparation system has been specifically enhanced with additional contaminant removal stages.
This ability to reliably process challenging fuels opens up new application areas for biomass gasification. The project demonstrates how underutilized residual materials can be converted into valuable energy sources in an economically viable way.
Regional Energy from Available Resources
In many regions of Asia, waste wood still has only limited economic value and, in some cases, is still disposed of in landfills. Spanner Re² technology transforms this resource into a locally available energy source, combining resource efficiency, energy security and renewable electricity generation within a single concept.
The result is a sustainable energy solution based on regionally available biomass residues.
Successful Market Establishment Creates New Opportunities
Entering new markets requires time, technical expertise and reliable partnerships. The successful establishment of a new technology often leads to further opportunities and follow-up projects.
This is exactly the development currently taking place at Spanner Re² GmbH. The newly commissioned plant creates an important reference for future projects in the megawatt range.
For Spanner Re², the 2 MW project is therefore far more than a single order. It confirms the company’s technological leadership and contributes significantly to the continued stabilization and positive development of the business. Additional projects are already in preparation.
