Biomasa, a wood pellet manufacturer in Slovenia, is expanding its wood gas energy concept by approximately 1 MWel and 2 MWth with two wood gas power plants from Spanner Re² GmbH. The special feature is that: The wood gas power plants can be operated flexibly, tailored to the needs of the electricity grid, and optimised for electricity market trading. This means the plants generate electricity and heat only when needed, typically at night rather than during the day. Combined with a battery storage system and existing PV systems, this project exemplifies how energy can be generated in a CO₂-friendly, flexible and economical way using local resources. The future of decentralised energy supply lies at the crossroads of technology, flexibility and market intelligence — and wood gas is the perfect solution!
