New Spanner Re² pellet gasifier operates as comfortably as a natural gas CHP unit, saving CO2 emissions and costs.

Spanner Re² GmbH has added a modern pellet gasifier to its portfolio. The innovative system generates decentralised and cost-effective electricity and heat or gas - conveniently and on demand from regionally sourced energy pellets. With the pellet gasifier, the company continues to drive the energy transition with resource-saving and decentralised energy solutions based on waste and biomass.

'With our new pellet gasifier, we offer a highly developed technology that requires no additional peripherals in fuel logistics. Our energy system runs automatically, is low-maintenance, reliable and immediately reduces CO₂ emissions and operating costs,’ explains Thomas Bleul, Managing Director of Spanner Re² GmbH. ‘This makes our system particularly attractive for hotels or companies looking for a sustainable and future-proof energy solution,’ Bleul continues.

Pellet gasifier enables electricity costs from 11 ct/kWh, heat costs from 5 ct/kWh

With a system running time of 4,000 hours per year and a pellet price of €250 per ton, the Re² gasifier in Germany generates electricity from 11 ct/kWh and heat from 5 ct/kWh in accordance with the Combined Heat and Power Act. There are also attractive subsidies and investment grants for the Re² pellet gasifier in Austria. Operators of a pellet gasifier benefit from predictable and favourable energy costs and at the same time reduce their CO2 footprint - in addition, unlike imported gas or fossil fuels, the added value remains in the region.

Highly developed technology, comfortable to operate

Pellets are a homogeneous fuel that is standardised in terms of water content, shape and size. Compared to wood chips, no further fuel preparation in the form of drying etc. is necessary with pellets. The homogeneity of the fuel not only simplifies the entire system technology and the associated investment costs, but also the system operation itself: This is because possible bridging due to the lumpiness of wood chips does not occur with pellets. The pellets are automatically fed to the gasifier via screw systems. In the reformer, the centrepiece of the Re² system, a pure gas is produced from the pellets. This gas can be used directly as a substitute for natural gas in thermal processes or converted into electricity via a combined heat and power plant. The Re² system supplies exactly as much energy as is needed and can be combined with other renewable energy generators such as PV or battery storage.
