The special: direct gas utilisation of wood gas in industrial processes - possible with flexible wood gasifiers from Re²

More than 1,000 Re² biomass power plants are already in operation, generating electricity and heat from biomass and waste materials using the principle of combined heat and power. The modular biomass power plants consist of a wood gasifier unit and a combined heat and power unit (CHP). They can also be used as highly efficient stand-alone systems, as in the Lücking brickworks project. Here, 4 wood gasifiers from Spanner Re² GmbH supply a clean syngas that is not converted into electricity via a CHP unit, but is fed directly into other industrial processes. The sustainably produced syngas from the wood gasifier thus replaces some of the fossil energy sources previously required for the production of industrial goods at the Lücking brickworks. With the innovative direct gas utilisation of wood gas, the brickworks saves considerable amounts of CO2 emissions and costs.

The syngas produced by the four Re² wood gasifiers at the Lücking brickworks is compressed to around 2 bar and stored in a pressurised gas storage tank. This ensures that the gas pressure required for the combustion chamber is around 1 bar. The gas is distributed to a total of 10 gas burner lances. The total capacity of the kiln is 5 MW. Approximately 1 MW of the burner capacity will be covered by wood gas in the first phase of the project. Regional wood chips for wood gas production

The fuel for the wood gasifiers is purchased from a regional supplier. Unlike fossil fuels, the added value from this type of energy production remains in the region, making the energy concept particularly sustainable.
